MUSIC & LYRICS BY DOLLY PARTON. BOOK BY PATRICIA RESNICK.

Driven by music and lyrics from the incomparable Dolly Parton, 9 to 5: The Musical tells the story of three female coworkers’ plan to get even with their lying, no good, egotistical boss Franklin Hart. With Hart out of the way, Violet, Judy, and Doralee aim to give their workplace a much-needed makeover, taking control of the company that has always kept them down. Based on the seminal 1980 film, this Rolodex era musical is just as outrageous, thought-provoking, and jubilant as its predecessor.

Director: George Contini

9 TO 5, THE MUSICAL is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.mtishows.com

DRAMATURGY NEWSLETTERS

The 9to5 movement, starting in the 1970s, amplified the voice of women clerical workers, radically changing the workplace for all, inspiring the 9 to 5 movie and musical. The dramaturgical research by Dyllon Glaze, supported by the Mellon Intersectional Southern Futures Grant, explores the original 9to5 movement, the progress it brought, and the disparities still facing women office workers today. These newsletters explore these areas of research, as well as the dramaturgical work in UGA’s production of 9 to 5: The Musical.
